Maine Trees In The Fall

The second consecutive post with pictures of trees in the fall. These pictures were taken on September 26th, 2008 in Northern Maine.

A large part of Maine is actual forest — nicknamed the “Pine Tree State” — over ninenty percent of our state is woods.

The vast array of different colors on the trees during this time of the year is magnificent. A lot of people take pictures of the trees.

An interesting fact is after the leaves fall from the trees, they decompose into the soil and give nutrients to the trees for the following years.

The forest might not even able to survive, if it wasn’t for the annual process.
