Penobscot River
The Penobscot river is the second longest river in all of Maine. The river stretches over 350 miles in the great state.
The word “Penobscot” comes from a mispronunciation of the name of the Indian tribe “Penawapskewi”. Maine has very heavy ties to their Indian ancestors.
The Penobscot people also still live on an Island named Indian Island in Maine.
The Penobscot river is famous for white water rafting. The enjoyable activity is engaged in throughout the summer in Maine.
